Choosing the Right Method: Inglenook Tile supports various installation methods; each offers unique benefits depending on your project—be it a brick tile floor kitchen or a thin brick fireplace facade. Preparation and Application: Ensure that surfaces are stable, level, and plumb. They must be clean, dry, and free from debris, waxes, or oils before you begin. For wall applications, we recommend thin-set, stone mastic, or construction adhesive over a sound substrate. Avoid using unstable materials like pressed wood or gypsum without a solid backing. For floor installations, use a stable base such as a Portland cement mortar bed or backer board.
Temperature Considerations: Only install mortar, set, and grout when surface temperatures are between 50°F and 90°F.
Adherence to Standards:Comply with ANSI standards such as ANSI A137.1 for Ceramic Tile and ANSI A118 series for mortars and grouts. Ensure tiles are 100% back buttered for best adherence, with at least 80% coverage.
Curing and Sealing: Allow newly installed tiles to cure — 72 hours in cool, humid conditions and 48 hours in warm, dry settings. Consider sealing thin brick tiles before grouting to ease cleaning and enhance protection against stains.
Post-Installation: Ensure proper placement of expansion joints as per TCA EJ171 and use suitable filling materials. If haze forms after grouting, it can be removed with commercial haze removers or a dilute muriatic acid solution. For a deeper color and matte finish, use a penetrating sealer like Aqua Mix Enrich N Seal.
